ICE-FISHING DAY

WHEN: From December to April

DURATION: 1 full day

MEETING POINT: In Kittilä or Levi

DISTANCE: 3.5 km snowshoeing to access the lake (7 km round trip)

ENVIRONMENT: in the wilderness, far away from any urban structure, boreal forest, frozen lake potentially exposed to winds, deep snow and ice on the lake, sometimes a mix of water and snow above the ice layer, dry toilets and a hut near the fishing spot

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to hike in the snow the distance specified above, to be well prepared for the cold in general as it is a very static activity

Price does not include: your round trip home-Lapland-home,  your clothing for a static activity in the polar cold and snow, your liability insurance, your health coverage, alcohol, your souvenirs

THE EXPERIENCE TO LIVE: An authentic ice fishing day with Lappitrek is a full day in a remote corner of the beautiful wilderness of a national park. We take you away from the crowds and noisy snowmobiles. We do it the old-fashioned way as we combine two activities in one. We begin the adventure by hiking with snowshoes (or skis if you want them) through the boreal forest to reach the lake and fishing spot. Once at the site, we find a lovely log hut that will keep us warm whenever needed as ice fishing is quite a static activity. During the activity the guide initiates you to the drilling, the preparation of the fishing rods, and the fishing itself. Then it's time to feel the serenity and remoteness of the place. You're there, on that lake, fishing and surrounded by the Arctic fells and the forest. Usually, our fishing time is divided into two sequences as we have lunch inside the hut around 1 pm. Expect a return in the twilight or darkness in case you come in December or January.
